Days at The Historic Hill House and Farm can be as full or empty as you desire. In addition to our personal favorite activity of reading in a rocking chair on the back porch with a cup of coffee, guests have an abundance other options to fill their days.


Swimming Pool

Enjoy our resort-style swimming pool and lounge area. Perfect for swimming laps, taking a refreshing dip, playing with the kids, or relaxing with a good book.



Pond and Trail

Our 2 acre pond and 2 mile hiking trail are ideal for guests looking to explore the natural beauty of the property. Enjoy an afternoon of leisurely fishing, or for the guests seeking a more active experience, take a mountain bike ride, hike, or jog and explore our grounds. 


Indulge in an in-room or on-property rejuvenating massage, performed by a licensed massage therapist. Massages are subject to availability. Prior to your arrival, let us know of your interest and we will reserve times.

Art Lessons

Professional artists are available to give individual or group lessons in the subjects of watercolor, painting, drawing, and photography. Lessons are subject to availability. Prior to your arrival, let us know of your interest and we will reserve times. 

Games and Crafts

The pool barn houses a large activity room, stocked with board games, puzzles, decks of cards, bocce ball, croquet, and corn hole. Supplies are available for crafts and staff is periodically available to assist on projects.

OFF-Site Activities

Lake Livingston

Along Lake Livingston, an 84,800-acre reservoir, are the 635 acres of Lake Livingston State Park. The park offers well-maintained hiking trails, picnicking, swimming, mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing, and boating. Lake Livingston is 35 minutes from the Farm.

Huntsville State Park

Huntsville State Park, 30 minutes north west of the Farm in the Sam Houston National Forest, is nestled among majestic trees and natural beauty of the East Texas Pineywoods. Guests can hike on 21 miles of trails, swim or fish on the beautiful 210 acre Lake Raven, or horseback ride.

Sam Houston Memorial Museum

The museum is a 15 acre complex located on the site of the homestead of General Sam Houston, and dedicated to preserving the memory of Sam Houston and his times.
